Hyderabad: BRS working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday said the BRS government under Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s leadership had brought major development to Telangana which the Congress could not do in six decades of governance.

Rama Rao, who addressed large gatherings of people during his roadshows in Chevella, Vikarabad, Kukatpally, and Quthbullapur constituencies, said that despite getting 11 chances, the Congress failed to work for the welfare of the people.

He said the Congress always the minority communities as its vote banks because of which the minorities were still living in poverty.

“On the other hand, KCR has been working for minority welfare by setting up educational institutions, giving scholarships, allotting the highest minority budget, and introducing schemes that uplift minority communities,” Rama Rao said.

The Chief Minister, he said, was the only leader in the country who was working with dedication for farmers’ welfare, starting with ensuring 24-hour power supply.

Rama Rao said that before the formation of Telangana, when the Congress was in power, farmers were deprived of even basics including power supply, irrigation, inadequate supply of seeds and fertilisers.

Highlighting the BRS manifesto, Rama Rao said after returning to power, the BRS government will introduce a monthly honorarium of Rs 3,000 to eligible women under the Sowbhagya Lakshmi scheme, increase Aasara pensions in instalments to Rs 5,000, supply fine rice to all ration card holders under Annapurna scheme, and introduce life insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh to over 93 lakh families living below the poverty line, and cooking gas cylinders for Rs 400 each.
