Anantapur: Deputy chief minister Amzath Basha has blamed TD chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu for “grabbing” the minority seat of Hindupur for his brother in law.

The Samajika Sadhikara Yatra of YSRC targeting Chandrababu Naidu and the MLA of Hindupur Assembly segment entered Hindupur town in Satya Sai district on Wednesday.

Hindupur segment has been the stronghold of the TD, mainly the NTR family, for long years.  The YSRC is firm on grabbing the seat and made attempts to solve differences among the party leaders and groups. Women leader Deepika was recently appointed as the party incharge after changing Md Iqbal.

As part of the Samajika Sadhikarika Bus Yarta, huge crowds gathered in Hindupur town on Wednesday. The main road was chock-a-block with the heavy presence of YSRC men and flags.

Addressing the gathering, Amzath Basha came down heavily on Chandrababu Naidu over his alleged “apathy” towards the minorities, BCs, SCs and STs when he led the government.

“Naidu sidelined a minority MLA to accommodate his brother-in law in Hindupur. But, the YSRC gave positions to a large number of minority, BC and SC leaders. I never expected to be made a deputy CM,“ Basha said.

“Jagan Mohan Reddy is firm on doing justice to the minorities and hence refused to give the Kadapa seat to his uncle Ravindranath Reddy,” Basha said.

Amzath Basha called on people to push the ‘Bicycle’ into the TD shed and elect the YSRC candidate in the next polls. Hindupur would have huge development if Deepika is elected as MLA of Hindupur, he said.

Rajya Sabha member R. Krishnaiah said the people of neighbouring states like Karnataka were seeking merger of their areas into AP, in view of the reforms in the education system and slew of welfare steps of the YSRC government here.

Minister G. Jayaram said he could continue as a minister only because of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s “positive attitude” towards the BCs and other weaker sections.

Hindupur party incharge Deepika said the four and a half years’ rule of Jagan Mohan Reddy helped the SC, ST, BC and Minority communities’ progress.
