T N Prathapan takes charge of District Congress Committee
Hundreds throng Thrissur DCC office.
Thrissur: Hundreds of party workers from the coastal regions of Kodungallur, Thriprayar and Nattika thronged the Thrissur DCC office to witness T.N Prathapan take charge as the new DCC president on Thursday morning. KPCC president V M Sudheeran was present on the occasion to witness his close associate in the party taking charge of the Congress’ top post in Thrissur. Even though Mr Prathapan got the post not as a nominee of either ‘A’ or ‘I’group, but because of his proximity to Mr Sudheeran and AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, all the three floors of the DCC office were filled with party workers and several of them were seen standing outside.
Speaking at the event, Sudheeran said that the Congress party which suffered a rout at the hands of the LDF in the Assembly elections earlier this year by losing 12 out of the total 13 seats, could stage a comeback if there was a combined effort by the party workers. “Both the Union and State government are competing with each other to come up with anti-people polices,” he said. Outgoing DCC president P A Madhavan, former DCC president O Abdul Rahman Kutty, senior party leaders K P Viswanathan, Therambil Ramakrishnan, C N Balakrishnan among others were present.
