When contacted, minister for Tamil culture and archaeology Ma Foi Pandaiarajan said that the state was in talks with international Tamil sangams and the International Association of Tamil Research (IATR) based in Malaysia. IATR is the official forum that conducts World Tamil Conference and the state is in touch with the forum for the gala event. IATR will take a final call fixing the venue and time and the state will extend the logistical support and sponsor the Tamil scholars and researchers if the event is organised in foreign countries. Till now the event is not organised in North America and a Tamil Sangam group wants to organise the event at Annamalai University in Chidambaram. All these issues will be taken up with the IATR next week.
