HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed at Chintalapalem mandal in Suryapet district following a clash between Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Congress party workers late on Thursday night. Seven persons sustained injuries in the clashes.

Mobs armed with sticks and weapons attacked each other and ransacked the houses of their opponents in the attacks and counter attacks. Houses, vehicles including motorcycles and four wheelers were targeted as the mob tried to take vengeance.

In all, the police said, seven dwellings were set on fire, while six motorcycles and three four wheelers apart from house articles were also damaged. During the free-for-all, the mobs hurled stones at each other resulting in high tension in the area.

The clash was the fallout of tension brewing between the local TRS and Congress workers over local politics. Clashes amongst both the parties were not unheard of in the politically sensitive district of Nalgonda.

After receiving information of the clashes, police forces rushed to the area. The situation was brought under control by morning.
