Rama Mohana Rao gets deeper into trouble
On Sunday, ministers Thangamani and Velumani had slammed Rao for his claims made before the Arumugasamy Commission.
Chennai: Former chief secretary P. Rama Mohana Rao seems to be getting into serious trouble with a senior state minister now demanding his arrest for custodial interrogation to bring out the truth about the demise of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the hospital.
Fisheries minister D.Jayakumar rubbished the statement made by Rao before the Justice Arumugasamy Commission probing Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation and death that she had held a Cauvery review meeting at her Apollo bed with her ministers O.Panneerselvam, Edappadi K Palaniswami, P. Thangamani and Dindigul Srinivasan, besides officials.
“Nothing of that sort happened. Thangamani too has denied. Rama Mohana Rao was then behaving like a politician and not a bureaucrat. He must be arrested and subjected to custodial interrogation to bring out the truth about Amma's death”, Jayakumar said.
Rama Mohana Rao got a knock from even the Chief Minister now, with the latter telling the reporters at Coimbatore that the ex-bureaucrat was lying when he claimed before the Arumugasamy Commission that Jayalalithaa had held a Cauvery meeting at her hospital bed, and also when he (Rao) said that he (Edappadi) along with O. Panneerselvam, Thangamani and Velumani had on September 28 (2016) discussed with him (Rao) about taking Amma abroad for treatment.
On Sunday, ministers Thangamani and Velumani had slammed Rao for his claims made before the Arumugasamy Commission, accusing him of speaking lies “to please someone”. He had deposed before the Commission soon after making a trip to Thanjavur (native of Sasikala), Thangamani said.
