The actor-turned-politician, R Sarath Kumar, contesting on the two leaves symbol in alliance with the AIADMK in Tiruchendur constituency, according to his party’s south zone secretary, Sundar, was unfortunately held up as the flight to Chennai from Thoothukudi was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions on May 16.

The Puthiya Tamilagam president, Dr Krishnasamy, who has his vote at Thondamuthur constituency in Coimbatore district, deliberately decided against casting his vote as on the polling day he wanted to be in Ottapidaram constituency in Thoothukudi district, where he is contesting the election as part of the DMK alliance this time.
It is to be noted that Dr Krishnasamy too did not quite care to exercise his
voting right previously in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, when he contested in the Tenkasi parliamentary constituency in Tirunelveli district and in the 2011 Assembly election, when he was elected to the state legislative Assembly from Ottapidaram constituency as an ally of the AIADMK.
