KOTTAYAM: Seating arrangements in the state Assembly has created discontent within the Kerala Congress (M). The Joseph group leaders P.J. Joseph and Mons Joseph are expected to make their stand clear at the party’s meeting in Kottayam on Sunday. Rumours are doing the rounds that those favouring the party chief K.M. Mani want to sit as a separate block in the Assembly.

“The stand adopted by the Joseph group leaders will be crucial in clearing the demand for sitting as a separate block. Both the leaders are unhappy with the proposal,” said sources. Kaduthuruthy legislator Mons Joseph told this newspaper that the proposal to sit as a separate block has not been come up so far.

According to sources, Mr P.J. Joseph is aggrieved at not being handed over the finance portfolio after K.M. Mani resigned from the post when the bar bribe case came up. Mr Joseph had also expressed his reluctance to resign from the previous UDF ministry as per the demand of KC(M) chairman K.M. Mani when he resigned from the post of finance minister. The views expressed at the meeting will be discussed in the camp held at Charalkunnu on August 5 and 6 and a decision will be taken on that basis.
