Use rakhis, get Special Category Status: Konathala Ramakrishna
AP was promised the Special Category Status when the state was bifurcated in 2014.
Visakhapatnam: Former minister Konathala Ramakrishna had asked Telugu women across the world to use the occasion of ‘Rakhsha Bandhan’ to protest against the BJP-led NDA government for the non-implementation of AP Reorganisation Act. He urged women and girls to trend #RakhiProtest on Twitter and Facebook.
Mr Ramakrishna said people can download the design for rakhis for the protest from his Twitter handle, @konathalaramak1 or from his Facebook page.
“You can also design your own protest rakhi and upload it under #Rakhiprotest,” the former minister said.
“Just like how a brother promises his sister to protect and take care of her, we wish to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend his support to the residuary AP and other backward regions of North Andhra and Rayalaseema.
AP was promised the Special Category Status when the state was bifurcated in 2014. This status will help the state, which has lost enormously due to bifurcation,” Mr Ramakrishna said.
The former minster said even the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project, despite being declared a national project, was facing severe neglect.
A separate railway zone for Visakhapatnam and a tribal university are also some of the other promises that the Centre had failed to keep, he said.
