DMK asks Governor to take note of C Sreenivaasan's remarks
The minister's statement showed that the government is ready to do any shameful act to retain power, he said.
Chennai: Taking exception to senior minister Dindigul C. Sreenivasan’s remarks on Monday connecting money with government’s stability, DMK deputy general secretary I. Periyasami on Wednesday appealed to Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao to take note of the minister’s statement.
“When a situation of the Governor ordering the state government to prove its majority arises, I hope that he takes note of the minister’s remarks”, he said, in a statement here.
Periyasami said the minister had openly admitted that his faction was planning to prove majority in House through horse-trading. He also pointed out that the Chief Minister is silent about the minister’s remarks. He asked why the Chief Minister had not condemned the minister’s remarks
The minister’s statement showed that the government is ready to do any shameful act to retain power, he said. The DMK leader said the minister had admitted that Edappadi K. Palaniswami government had lost its majority, but when asked how it would survive, he had replied that money could reach any place. (Panam padhalam varai paayum).
Expressing shock over the statement, Periyasami said it only showed that the ministers had decided that money would be enough for government’s survival.
He pointed out that already charges of paying money to win the confidence motion moved by Palaniswami had been raised and a case filed by the DMK on ‘horse trading of MLAs’ was pending in the Madras High Court.
