Hyderabad: The BJP in Telangana is grappling with significant challenges as it strives to persuade its cadre that it has no form of alliance with the BRS, a message that isn't gaining much traction among its members.

"Every effort we make to debunk the Congress narrative that BJP-BRS are together is not finding takers at the ground level. No matter how many times we repeat this, most of our workers continue to have doubts," lamented a senior party leader.

According to sources within the BJP, the recent development involving another ED notice to BRS MLC K. Kavitha, summoning her in connection with the Delhi liquor scam, has exacerbated the situation. The way the summons played out after the Supreme Court's directive to the ED not to take any steps until it hears the case on September 26 has added to the complexity.

"With great difficulty, we managed to put the issue on the backburner, but the latest summons from ED brought it to the fore. Since we should not comment on judicial matters, we cannot say anything. However, the question once again being asked by our workers is if the ED was serious, why did it not issue summons earlier and wait until one day before Kavitha's plea in the Supreme Court on ED summoning women for questioning at its office," remarked another party leader.

This latest episode of ED summons has not played out favourably for the BJP, making it even more challenging for the party's leaders to convince the cadre that the Congress's claims about the BJP having an understanding with the BRS are false.
