Adilabad: Former BRS Chennur MLA Nallala Odelu and his wife, Mancherial ZP chairperson Bhagya Laxmi who have rejoined the Congress, seem to have got a cold reception from the party leaders of the constituency. The couple, first, quit the ruling BRS and joined the Congress a few months ago and then came back to the BRS, before rejoining the Congress in the presence of TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy and campaign committee co-chairman Poguleti Srinivas Reddy, at a hotel in Hyderabad.

As the speculation about the ‘Nallala’ couple switching parties has been circulating for some time, the Congress leaders, who applied for the party ticket from the Chennur, are not happy with the party's high command for their rejoining without informing them.

Reinforcing this, former MLC and TPCC strategy committee chairman K. Premsagar Rao has announced that their candidate was Nukala Ramesh from Chennur constituency.

Former OU student leader and TPCC general secretary Durgam Bhaskar said he would contest as party candidate from Chennur and was appealing to the people to bless him and urged Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who recently joined the Congress, not to interfere and disturb the party in Chennur.

Bhaskar said such disturbances would create confusion among party's second-rung leaders and cadre in the constituency and benefit the ruling BRS candidate in the elections.

As many as 13 candidates including Nukala Ramesh, Raja Ramesh, Durgam Bhaskar, Dasari Srinivas had applied for the party ticket from the Chennur and actively working in the party.

Odelu joined the Congress with the promise of being given due priority in the party and there is a possibility of him getting the party ticket from Chennur, according to his followers.

‘Nallala’ couple had quit the BRS as they were at loggerheads with BRS MLA Balka Suman. Later, he developed differences with Premsagar Rao and quit the Congress, and then, returned to BRS a few months ago.
