AICC general secretary K. C. Venugopal, MP, will discuss it with party vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Hubballi: Contending that the mood in the country was tilting in favour of Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, K C Venugopal, asserted here on Monday that he would become Prime Minister following the  2019 parliamentary polls.

Addressing a party meeting in Dharwad, he claimed the Congress was regaining the faith of the common man as the Modi government’s “anti-farmer policies” and other initiatives like demonetisation, fuel price hike and GST were hurting the country’s economy.

Also referring to the huge win of the Congress in the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha by-elections in Punjab, Mr Venugopal maintained a Congress wave was also evident in the elections to the students’ unions of  universities in Delhi, Bhopal and Pondicherry.

“The downward spell has begun for Narendra Modi. People are fed up with the BJP as it is trying to divide the country and Muslims have been told they have no right to keep cows by the Sangh Parivar. People will vote to bring the Congress to power and make Rahul Gandhi Prime Minister,” he insisted.
