Cong demands action against Malla Reddy for openly distributing money
HYDERABAD: Alleging that TRS leaders were trying to lure people with huge money offers, Congress leaders demanded the Election Commission to take a serious note of the developments and initiate suitable action.
Referring to the incident where minister Malla Reddy was surrounded by people over monetary issues in Aregudem in Choutuppal mandal on Sunday, Congress leaders wanted to know the minister’s involvement in this.
“Villagers stopped him when he was about to leave after campaigning without paying the amounts that he had promised. They alleged that he tried to settle for Rs 2 lakh after promising to pay Rs 12 lakh. TRS leaders are murdering democracy. The Election commission should initiate action,” demanded CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, while addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday.
Questioning the functioning of the poll body authorities, Lok Sabha member N. Uttam Kumar Reddy felt that it seemed more like ‘auctioneering’ and less of electioneering.
“You have all the evidence to pin down the minister. This is on record. Is this a kind of competition for loot?” he asked.
Munugode Congress candidate, Palvai Sravanthi lamented that both TRS and BJP were misusing the machinery at their disposal.
“With money, muscle and political power these parties are trying to influence voters. You may assess how these parties will exploit once they win. Neither has a service motive,” she felt.
