Hyderabad: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the BRS government has become like the ‘private limited company’ of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family but no one could accuse Prime Minister Narendra Modi government at the Centre of indulging in corruption.

Addressing election rallies Jammikunta of Huzarabad constituency and in the city, he said: “Some ministers in the previous UPA government led by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had gone to jail on charges of graft. But, I can say with confidence that no one, either in the country or the entire world, can point a finger and say that there is a taint of corruption on our Prime Minister or the government.”

“The entire nation was discussing the corruption by the KCR family,” he alleged. “Even though the Telangana state has all kinds of resources, there are no signs of any development after nine years under the BRS government.”

The Union minister accused Rao of betraying the youths. “KCR promised that every family will be allotted one government job and betrayed them. KCR also promised that he would sanction unemployment dole, but deceived them. KCR did not fulfil the promise of distribution of 3 acres to poor Dalit families either, nor did he implement the Dalit Bandhu scheme properly.”

He accused Rao of failing the unemployed youth as question papers were repeatedly leaked.

Juxtaposing Rao against Modi, who, Rajnath Singh said, fulfils all promises, he criticised the Congress for failing to resolve issues during the bifurcation of the state.

“The Congress government, which gave statehood to Telangana, forgot to resolve the issues between both the states. Whereas three states which were formed during the reign of the BJP government — Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh — are heading towards enormous development,” he said.

He said the NITI Aayog had recently said that 13.5 crore people have come out of poverty. What we say on international forums is being taken seriously now, unlike earlier.

Singh also took a swipe at the Dharani portal, claiming the BRS government used it to commit irregularities and take control of lakhs of acres.

“Whereas, the BJP government as a pilot project introduced Bhu-Swamithra Yojana under which all land disputes are resolved. Landowners can easily get loans from any bank by obtaining documents through the scheme which was introduced by Narendra Modi,” he said.

He also accused Rao of failing in welfare measures by failing to implement the Centre’s schemes. “Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the BJP government constructed around 4 crore houses for poor families and distributed them. The BRS government did not implement the scheme in the state and betrayed the poor people of Telangana,” he alleged.

He claimed that the BRS, in collusion with MIM, was indulging in “cheap politics” using region and religion, and caste and communities, “which BJP will never do”.

“Former Congress PM Rajiv Gandhi himself said that when the Central government sends Rs 100 to the states, the money, by the time it reaches the people, is becoming Rs 14 due to the involvement of middlemen and corruption. To prevent that, Narendra Modi introduced Jan Dan bank accounts and directly deposits the money to the accounts of the beneficiaries,” he said.

Invoking religious deities through party symbols, Rajnath Singh said: “Goddess Lakshmi Devi will not come to one’s house in a car since the BRS car has become useless (‘Car bekar ho gaya’) and hand has left you (‘Hath apka sath chod diya’). The Goddess also will not hold one’s hand and will come to your house, but Lakshmi Devi will come to your house by sitting in a lotus, so voting for lotus, which is the symbol of BJP, is nothing but inviting Goddess Lakshmi Devi to your house.”

“People who gave the BRS two chances should give the BJP one chance so that it can take up all-round development of the state like that of Gujarat, where BJP government has been ruling for the past 27 years,” he said.
