Tamil Nadu governor's inspections welcome: Dindigul C Srinivasan
Speaking to the press at the Coimbatore airport, he said that Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit has all the rights to conduct review meetings.
Coimbatore: “If the Governor inspects all the districts in the state we will support him,” said Tamil Nadu Forest minister Dindigul C. Srinivasan here on Thursday.
Speaking to the press at the Coimbatore airport, he said that Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit has all the rights to conduct review meetings and launch inspections, as such meetings will help him to know about the schemes implemented by the local administration.
“Coimbatore district has been included in the 'Smart City' project list, so I think it's the duty of a Governor to know what kind of facility the district requires and how the Central government schemes are implemented here like Swachh Bharat, Make in India and few others,” the minister said, defending the Governor's action.
The Governor had also cleaned the road by taking part in a clean drive in the city, while the opposition gave priority to criticise the review meeting conducted by him saying this would undermine State autonomy, the minister pointed out.
“We will support if the Governor conducts such meetings across the state, as these kinds of meetings will help the government to take good and effective initiatives for the betterment of the State and the people,” Srinivasan said.
