Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh BJP president Daggubati Purandeswari announced on Friday that Bharatiya Janata Party and Jana Sena will contest the upcoming elections in the state together.

Speaking at a meeting of the BJP Shakti Kendra Pramukh and booth-level committees, she emphasised that their alliance is committed to defeating ruling YSRC, rooting out corruption and putting those involved in scams behind bars.

Addressing media after the meeting, Purandeswari accused YSR Congress government of prioritising vendetta-based politics over welfare and development of the people.

Expressing her resentment over being accused of acting on behalf of other parties, she said it is the right of opposition parties to question the government's policies and decisions. She highlighted the centre’s special attention to tackling corruption. She asserted that those resorting to corrupt practices will soon face legal consequences.

The AP BJP chief pointed out that many programmes in the state are funded by central government. She contrasting this with YSRC government's purported lack of independent initiatives. She claimed that funds provided by the central government are not being utilised effectively and programs are not being implemented as intended.

Purandeswari called upon BJP workers to create awareness about contributions of the Narendra Modi government to development of Andhra Pradesh.

Taking a swipe at the state's infrastructure, she underlined that citizens are suffering due to poorly maintained roads. She pointed out that social media is rife with jokes about the state of roads in Andhra Pradesh. But the government is not taking any corrective action.
