Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam, a part of the NDA government at the Centre, has decided to lodge a complaint against the CBI and Enforcement Directorate with the Prime Minister over the tardy pace of investigation and failure to file chargesheets against YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy who is facing trial for disproportionate assets.

TD leaders believe ‘someone’ at the Centre is responsible for the investigation agencies ‘languid’ approach to the case. “We strongly believe that someone is behind this; otherwise, how is it possible that the trial is yet to be completed and Jagan still unpunished, five years after the case started?” said TD politburo member Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy.

Mr Chandramohan Reddy said that Supreme Court had been categorical in its direction to all trial courts in the country to complete proceedings within a year in cases involving public representatives that invite imprisonment of two years or more.

“The Supreme Court direction came in 2013; CBI filed cases against Jagan in 2011. But stil, nothing is moving in the trial courts except adjournments. We believe that the investigating agencies are not seriously following up the matter in the courts,” the TD leader told DC on Friday.

“How can such things happen in such a high profile case, especially when there is a direction from the apex court,” the TD leader asked. The role of investigating agencies in the delay came up during the TD politburo meeting chaired by TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu recently, who too expressed surprise over the situation.
