KCR is Leader of the Opposition
HYDERABAD: Former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was on Saturday named Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and the BRS, which he heads, was recognised as the main Ipposition party.
Making this announcement, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said that with 39 members, the BRS was the second largest among the parties in the House and hence got the status of the main Opposition party. The BRS’ Legislature Party had elected Chandrashekar Rao as its leader, he said. The announcement was greeted by thumping of desks by BRS members.
Rao is not expected to attend any session of the Assembly at least for the next six to eight weeks as he is recuperating from a hip replacement surgery. He is yet to take oath as MLA
