Kasargod: The CPI's candidates list for the coming Lok Sabha election will be announced on March 7, said party state secretary Kanam Rajendran. He was speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the LDF's northern leg rally here on Sunday.

"There will be woman candidates in the list. Also, we will not exchange the Thiruvananthapuram seat. The party candidate will contest there," Mr. Rajendran said.

There has been speculation that M.P Veerendrakumar's LJD is lobbying for Thiruvananthapuram seat to exchange it with the CPI.

According to the party state secretary, the official discussion on candidates has not yet started.

"The rally will conclude at Thrissur on March 2. The CPI state executive and state council will meet on March 3 and 4. A national-level meet has been scheduled on March 5 and 6. The candidates will be announced thereafter," Mr. Rajendran added.

Mr. Rajendran is leading the northern leg of the rally and CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan the southern leg.

The comment of Mr. Rajendran that there would be a woman candidate hints that the party is likely to field Annie Raja.
