K M Mani extends support to Muslim League

Kottayam: Kerala Congress (M) chairman K.M. Mani has extended his party's support to Indian Union Muslim League  candidate P.K. Kunhalikutty for  the Lok Sabha by-election from Malappuram. He told  reporters after the steering committee meeting  here on Friday that  this should not be perceived as a support to the UDF.  "It is part of the friendly relationship with the IUML," he said.

Mr Mani said that the KC(M) will convene a separate election convention at  Malappuram. The IUML had  written a  letter to Mr Mani seeking his party's support for its candidate without any conditions though the KC(M) is outside the  UDF.   The IUML  made the request without discussing it with other  UDF  allies.
