Civic staff polls: TRS bags nine divisions
However, sources claimed that this was the first fall of the TRS prior to the general election.
Hyderabad: For the first time after the state formation, in a major blow, TRS affiliated Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Employees’ Union lost the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Employees’ Union election to Bhagyanagar Employees Union (BEU) which is a BJP affiliated one.
TRS bagged nine divisions. These divisions are Yellandu, Bellampalli, Manuguru, Kothagudem Corporate division, Kothagudem mines, Srirampur, Ramagundam-1, 2 and 3. On the other hand, the Opposition alliance comprising two national unions, Indian National Trade Union Congress and All-India Trade Union Council, and a regional union, Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council, could win just two divisions – Bhupalpalli and Mandamarri.
Right from the beginning, the TRS-led union had the advantage over the Opposition because most of the Singareni coal mine workers had played a major role in the movement for a separate Telangana state and they were actively associated with the TRS.
However, sources claimed that this was the first fall of the TRS prior to the general election.
