P P Mukundan back in BJP as Suresh Gopi's ultimatum works
It should be noted that Mukundan had already taken the party membership last year itself.
Thiruvananthapuram: Finally the BJP's doors are being opened for former BJP leader P. P. Mukundan who was ousted from the party in 2006 when he was serving as the organisational general secretary. BJP State president Kummanam Rajasekharan said that Mukundan would join the party on Monday morning at the BJP Office. DC had reported on Sunday that BJP’s star campaigner Suresh Gopi had given an ultimatum to the State BJP leadership that if the party wanted him to campaign, Mukundan had to be brought back.
BJP sources told DC that a few days back, Kummanam had dinner at Suresh Gopi’s house here which actually led to Mukundan’s much awaited return to the party. It is reliably known that a major chunk of the party workers in several districts were keen to see Mukundan’s comeback which would only strengthen the party’s prospects in the elections.
Kummanam told reporters that Mukundan would be brought back into the party, but a decision on giving party membership would be taken later. It should be noted that Mukundan had already taken the party membership last year itself.
Sources close to Mukundan told DC that Kummanam had called up the peeved leader on Saturday night urging him to join the party. There are reports that Mukundan was thinking of holding a press meet as his comeback had already been approved by the RSS leadership and was peeved with the delay in taking a final decision.
