WARANGAL: After achieving separate Telangana, the decades-old dream of the Adivasi community ‘Mave Nate Mava Raj’ (Our Village Our Rule) has been realised under the regime of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, whose government has taken up several developmental and welfare initiatives for the uplift of tribal people in the state, said IT minister K.T. Rama Rao.

The minister participated in several developmental programmes in Yellareddypet mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district on Monday.

Rama Rao said the Chief Minister had converted 3,416 thandas across the state into village panchayats, making 31,000 tribal people their public representatives, realising self-governance. All the thandas-turned-panchayats will get panchayat buildings soon as they were under construction at a cost of Rs 20 lakh each, he said.

Stressing that the Telangana government had increased the ST reservation from six per cent to 10 per cent, the minister said the BRS government would distribute pattas for podu lands very soon after a comprehensive study. A Girijan Bhavan will be built on around 2 acres in the Rajanna Sircilla district, he promised.

Rama Rao said that Rs 3 lakh financial assistance would be given for house construction in their own plot of beneficiaries under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme. Drainage canal works would be taken up very soon in Rajannapet and Bakurupally thanda panchayats apart from the distribution of sewing machines to the trained women, he said.

Under the leadership of KCR, Telangana is leading the pack in development which had not taken place in the last 68 years of ruling by the previous governments, he said, alleging that the leaders of opposition parties, unable to digest the enormous development, were criticising the BRS government for no reason. The majority of the model villages were from Telangana only, he pointed out.

ZP chairperson N. Aruna, TESCOB chairman K. Ravinder Rao, District collector Anurag Jayanti, SP Akhil Mahajan and revenue divisional officer T. Srinivas Rao, members of ZPTC and MPTC, MPPs and sarpanches were present.
