KOZHIKODE: After the prolonged and tiring campaign, the candidates have two days to relax till the nail-biting counting on Thursday. Mayor V.K.C. Mammadkoya,  LDF candidate of Beypore,  is now relaxed after the tough campaign. “Though I had contested earlier, it is for the first time I  fought such a long campaign,”  he told DC. Though he was a heart patient on medication, his strict routine helped him stay active.

The hectic campaign had forced many of the candidates to keep off many family functions. A. Pradeep Kumar,  LDF candidate of Kozhikode North constituency, planned to visit some of his friends in Wayanad while LDF candidate of Kuthuparambu, K.K. Shailaja, joined the  preparations of her son’s marriage which is scheduled to be held on Wednesday.

Tiruvambadi CPM candidate George M. Thomas would take rest for two days as he had started the election campaign soon after a surgery for kidney stone. Mr Thomas told DC that he had not got sufficient time to take rest after the surgery.
NDA candidate of Sulthan Bathery,  C.K. Janu, went to her home near Mananthavadi after the election. “I missed Janaki, my daughter,  as I had to stay away in the constituency for more than 30 days,” Janu said.

However,  the happiest of the candidates was M.V. Nikesh Kumar, LDF candidate of Azhikode constituency in Kannur. “I had a hair cut today,”  Nikesh told DC. Due to the tight schedule of the campaign, he did not have time to do it.  “In the morning I had to visit the home of a comrade where country bombs were hurled on Monday  night”, he added. “There was no rest and there would not be one soon as many media personnel and party men are visiting me,”  he added.
