John Fernandez is Anglo-Indian nominee in Kerala Assembly
A member of the CPM district secretariat, Mr John entered public life through student politics.
Kochi: Mr John Fernandez has been nominated as the Anglo-Indian representative of the state Assembly. The Governor’s notification in this regard was issued on Friday. This is the second time after 1996-2001 that he has been nominated for the post. A member of the CPM district secretariat, Mr John entered public life through student politics. He had served as DYFI district secretary, state joint secretary, treasurer and central committee member.
He also served as member of Purogamana Kalasahitya Sangham state committee and library council state executive. During his tenure as member of the Assembly, he served as member of environment committee and Sports Council select committee.
He took the initiative to upgrade Anglo-Indian schools. He has been active in theatre and penned and directed several amateur and professional plays. He has published three plays and a novel and bagged many awards, including the Abu Dhabi Sakthi award in 2012.
