Vijayawada: The TD is seriously thinking about measures to be taken to check Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani and his team. Mr. Nani claims his fight is on corruption in the transport department, but it is damaging the image of the government.

Though Mr Nani claims himself to be loyal to the TD, the party is looking at this issue from the disciplinary angle, instead of his fight against the transport department.

A prominent TD leader said the issue began with Mr Nani shutting down his transport business abruptly, and then he acted independently, thereby, damaging the party and the government’s reputation. He further said if such activities were entertained, it would affect the party rather than an individual.

The TD strongly believes that Mr. Nani had intentionally made the issue serious in view of his personal business.

The issue flared up with Mr. Kesineni Nani pressurising the transport commissioner to tamper with the records of Orange Travels’ accident issue.  Orange Travels is a rival of Kesineni Travels.

But, Mr. Nani’s move boomeranged and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made his leaders apologise to the transport commissioner, which led to a revolt within the party. Mr. Nani took this issue personally.

With the support of another MP, he even complained to the Arunachal Pradesh government and wrote a letter to cancel the registrations and permits of buses. This had made both the government and party think about a serious action on him.

A Cabinet minister said as a ruling party MP, Mr. Nani had such an access, but with his extreme action, he has damaged the government’s image.

Though the state government has seized buses whose registrations have been cancelled as a temporary measure, it is looking for a tit-for-tat to teach Mr. Nani a lesson.

A CMO official said, “We can play better games than Mr Nani, but are being patient, keeping in view the government’s image.”

Vijayawada Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, who was involved in the attack on the transport commissioner, has become silent. There is criticism that Mr. Nani’s followers, too, were acting independently.
