Gruha Lakshmi Registration Begins Tomorrow in Karnataka
BENGALURU: Registrations to apply for ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ scheme of the State Government to distribute Rs 2,000 a month to a female head of a family would be launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at a function to be held at Vidhana Soudha at 5 pm on Wednesday. However, the State Government would start to make Direct Bank Transfer to the beneficiaries starting from August 16 or 17.
Cash benefit scheme for women was one among the 5-guarantees assured by the ruling Congress party before coming to power in Karnataka. Other assurances such as 'Shakti' free travel for women in State run buses for free has been launched, 'Anna Bhagya' scheme is underway and registrations for 'Gruha Jyothi' scheme to avail upto 200 units of free power is underway.
'Yuva Nidhi' to provide monthly unemployment for graduates and diploma holders is yet to be launched in Karnataka.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries or her husband should not be an Income Tax or GST payee. To get registered to avail benefit under the ‘Gruha Lakshmi’, message would be sent to the mobile phone number furnished in the Below or Above Poverty Line cards and the message would give details on the date and timing for the individual to get registered at specified Grama One/ Bapuji Centres/ Karnataka One/ Bengaluru One centres by giving relevant documents such as BPL/APL card number/ Aaddhar number and bank account details.
Besides, volunteers appointed by the officials concerned of the Department of Women and Child Welfare would assist individuals in getting registered to the scheme at the door steps of the beneficiaries.
The cash benefit of Rs 2,000 will be transferred through Direct Bank Transfer every month to the bank account linked to the Aadhar number of the beneficiary. In case, a beneficiary desires, the beneficiary may provide a new bank account number to which Rs 2,000 will be transferred through RTGS.
Upon registration, beneficiaries would get an order copy if registration is done at Grama One/ Bapuji Centres/ Karnataka One/ Bengaluru One centres and for those individuals who get it registered through volunteers, order copy will be issued later at their respective houses.
The officials concerned have made it clear that the registration process for the ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ scheme would have no deadline and registrations are free of cost.
