Rajinikanth lacks political maturity: Sellur K Raju
Sellur K Raju had said, if there are going to be protests for every issue, Tamil Nadu will turn into a graveyard.
Chennai: The Minister took strong exception to actor Rajinikanth, who had recently criticised Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his Cabinet for not attending the last rites of DMK chief M. Karunanidhi on the Marina, saying the actor’s ‘dialogues will not take off in politics.’
“Post Puratchi Thalaivi (late CM J. Jayalalithaa), everybody is talking about politics and expressing opinion, especially Rajinikanth, whose views are unacceptable. His dialogues may take off in reel life but in politics, it will prove as comedy,” the Minister said.
Referring to the actor’s contention that frequent agitations would turn Tamil Nadu would into a graveyard, Mr. Sellur Raju remarked that the actor wanted to endorse agitation over Karunanidhi’s Marina burial issue. “He appears to contradict himself and this only exposes his lack of maturity in politics,” he said.
After visiting the Thoothukudi police firing victims in May at the hospital in the coastal Thoothukudi, Rajini Makkal Mandram founder Rajinikanth said Tamil Nadu will turn into a graveyard if there are continuous protests. He had said, “if there are going to be protests for every issue, Tamil Nadu will turn into a graveyard.”
While speaking at a condolence meeting here recently, the ‘superstar’ said he would have launched an agitation had the government challenged the Madras high court order directing the government to provide space on the Marina for Karunanidhi’s burial.
