Telangana TDP president Revanth Reddy may join Congress
Revanth Reddy denied joining the Congress when he spoke to mediapersons in Delhi, and termed the reports baseless .
Hyderabad: Telangana state Telugu Desam working president A. Revanth Reddy, who is Delhi, on Tuesday reportedly spoke with senior AICC leaders and told them of his interest in joining the Congress to take on the TRS in the state.
Mr Revanth Reddy denied joining the Congress when he spoke to mediapersons in Delhi, and termed the reports “baseless”.
All India Congress Committee Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe cell chairman Koppula Raju had reportedly conveyed Mr Revanth Reddy’s intention to join the Congress to AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi. After getting a nod from him, Mr Raju had organised meetings in Delhi with Mr Revanth Reddy and senior AICC leaders, Congress sources said.
No word on Revanth yet: Kuntia
Interestingly, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy too is in Delhi, but was not reachable.
When a senior TS Congress leader called him, AICC secretary and TS incharge R.C. Kuntia reportedly said it was still confined to consultations and no decision had been taken. He assured the Congress leader that before inviting Mr Revanth and others from the TD into the Congress, the party would obtain the views from all PCC leaders especially those from the district Mr Revanth Reddy belongs to.
It was learnt that former minister and prominent TD leader Uma Madhava Reddy would also join Congress after getting an assurance that the party would allot her the Bhongir Assembly seat for the 2019 elections. Asked about the developments, TS TD president L. Ramana said, “I am not aware any such thing.”
Mr Revanth Reddy had earlier gone on record stating he had held consultations with Mr N. Uttam Kumar Reddy about a possible tie-up with Congress for the 2019 elections, which the Congress.
