Cong Eyes 27 Assembly Seats Which Elect Different Parties in Every Assembly Poll
HYDERABAD: The Congress has laid special focus on 27 constituencies where voters never elected the same party twice in succession since the delimitation in 2009. OF these, the BRS won 22 out of 27 seats in 2018.
The Congress is hopeful that the voters in these 22 constituencies would reject the BRS and opt for different party as per the trend being followed since 2009.
The Congress leadership has sent strategy teams to all these 27 constituencies to work in coordination with local leaders and workers and ensure Congress victory in these seats. The teams are adopting micro-level booth management techniques.
Among these constituencies, the Congress won three seats in 2018 — Kothagudem, Mulug and Tandur. This time, it has left Kothagudem to the Communist Party of India as part of pre-poll alliance.
Tandur MLA ‘Pilot’ Rohith Reddy, who won on a Congress ticket in 2018, subsequently joined the BRS and is now contesting from the ruling party. Seethakka is seeking re-election from Mulug. The Congress leadership is putting extra efforts to retain these three seats.
Under GHMC the limits, there are eight such constituencies: Kukatpally, Quthbullapur, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanathnagar, Musheerabad, Serilingampally and Uppal.
