DMK alleges Rs 100 crore distributed to voters
DMK working president M K Stalin has claimed that the AIADMK gave Rs 6,000 to each voter, and this had the support of the police.
Chennai: The opposition DMK has alleged that Rs 100 crore was distributed to the R. K. Nagar voters by the ruling AIADMK. DMK working president M. K. Stalin has claimed that the AIADMK gave Rs 6,000 to each voter, and this had the support of the police. In his letter to the Election Commission on Sunday, he sought action against AIADMK candidate E. Madhusudhanan.
“Take appropriate and necessary action against AIADMK and the erring officials and ensure free and fair election RK Nagar Assembly Constituency”, he urged in his letter. Chennai’s R. K. Nagar Assembly constituency is facing by-poll on Dec. 21. Elections became necessary in the constituency following the demise J. Jayalalithaa a year ago. “Tamil Nadu is witnessing the large-scale distribution of money to the tune of more than Rs. 100 Crores by the ruling AIADMK party to the voters for the by-election to R. K. Nagar Assembly Constituency”, Stalin alleged in the letter. He further requested the EC to disqualify AIADMK candidate E. Madhusudhanan.
The DMK has fielded N. Marudhu Ganesh as its candidate while the rival AIADMK leader T. T. V. Dinakaran is contesting as an independent. The T. T. V. Dhinakaran group too made similar allegation. Dhinakaran's supporter P. Vetrivel, said, “the ruling dispensation used police vehicles, ambulances and government vehicles to take money to voters in the constituency”.
