Chennai: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was taken aback when a Tamil journalist asked him a question in Tamil but RBI governor Shaktikanta Das came to his rescue by replying in Tamil.
While participating in an interaction with the Union Minister in Delhi on Monday, the journalist Saravanan sought to if the Centre had any aggressive plans to increase investment awareness among the people. While the Minister was too dazed to reply, as he could not comprehend the language, Mr. Shaktikanta Das intervened to say he would reply in Tamil, and thus saved the day for Mr. Jaitley.
“The government has introduced many programmes in the Small savings including Sukanya Samrudhi yojana. Financial inclusion in banks is a programme under implementation. It was brought 2 years ago and the government has helped the people open Jan dhan accounts,” the RBI governor replied which came as a respite to the Minister.
