While CM Siddaramaiah is preparing to present the state Budget in February,  BJP state chief, B.S.Yeddyurappa contended on Thursday that he did not have the mandate to present a full fledged budget for 2018-19 with elections looming in a few months.

"He can only present a vote on account for four months as the  Election Commission will announce the calendar of events for the elections in March or April. If he proceeds with presenting a full budget, the people will agitate against him," he warned.

The BJP chief was speaking on the occasion of inducting two JD(S) MLAs, Manappa D. Vajjal and Dr. Shivaraj Patil into his party. Accusing the CM of making money by spending Rs. 80,000 crore of the last budget during  his remaining 73 days in office, he claimed  he  was colluding with contractors engaged for projects to siphon off funds.

Mr. Yeddyurappa  also hit out at him for not spending budgetary funds allocated to all departments in 2017-18. "Not more than 40 per cent of the money allocated was utilised in the last budget, but the  CM is hurrying to spend the remaining amount in 73 days," he regretted
