M M Hassan's 38-strong list for AICC ready
Hassan claimed that there was perfect balance of seniors, youth, dalits and women in the list.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state Congress leadership has prepared a 38-member list of senior KPCC leaders to be included as AICC members. KPCC president M.M. Hassan claimed that there was perfect balance of seniors, youth, dalits and women in the list. But he said he was yet to submit it to the AICC as talks were on to complete the list. The list was prepared by Hassan and his predecessor V. M. Sudheeran, Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala and former chief minister Oommen Chandy.
A Congress leader told DC that veteran Congress leader Vakkom Purushothaman, former Lieutenant-Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and former Governor of Mizoram, has been removed from the list. “All the Congress MPs have been included in the list which was prepared secretly as the earlier KPCC members’ list had triggered widespread controversy,” said a KPCC general secretary.
This time, more women leaders are expected to find a place, including KPCC general secretary Lathika Subhash. Last year, those selected were Suma Balakrishnan (Kannur), Santha Jayaram (Palakkad), Valsala Prasanna Kumar (Ernakulam), Shanimol Usman (Alappuzha), Sosamma (Idukki), Leelamma Abraham (Kottayam), Rajalakshmi (Pathanamthitta), Lalitha Raveendranath (Alappuzha) and Thankamani Divakaran (Thiruvananthapuram).
