LDF picks M B Faisal to fight bypoll in Malappuram
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan announced his name here on Saturday.
MALAPPURAM: The LDF has selected M.B. Faisal to contest the Malappuram Lok Sabha by-election. Mr Faisal, 36, CPM Edappal area committee member, DYFI district president and state committee member, will be pitted against P.K. Kunhalikutty of the IUML and N. Sree-prakash of the BJP. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan announced his name here on Saturday. The party, which considered veteran leader T.K. Hamza also for the contest, decided in favour of Mr Faisal in view of his youth.
A law graduate from the Government Law College, Kozhikode, Mr Faisal also has a ‘diploma in journalism’ from the Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Kozhikode. He studied at CPN UP school, Vattakulam, and government high school, Kumaranelloor. He is the son of Beerankutti and Fathima. His wife Sayyida Sherin is a teacher of AMLP school, Kakkadippuram, and they have two children, Fidal Rosh and Filsa Hosni. The by-election will be held on April 12 and the votes will be counted on April 17.
