A Revanth Reddy to seek Opposition support for April 11 elections
Mr Revanth Reddy said that nothing would happen to the Congress if some leaders left the party.
Hyderabad: Congress Malkajgiri candidate A. Revanth Reddy, the TPCC working president, is meeting Opposition leaders to get their support for the April 11 elections. He secured the backing of CPI Telangana state secretary Chada Venkata Reddy and Telangana Jana Samiti president Prof. M. Kodandaram.
Addressing party workers on Monday, Mr Revanth Reddy said that the Congress would form government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections. He asked what Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would do if the TRS won 16 Lok Sabha seats.
He said that the TRS has 16 MPs in the previous Lok Sabha term including the defector MPs, but they could not get the Centre to implement promises contained in the bifurcation Act. He said Mr Rao had no role in the Lok Sabha elections which belonged to the national parties.
Mr Revanth Reddy said that nothing would happen to the Congress if some leaders left the party. He asked the people of Malkajgiri to elect a strong leader as their MP.
Meanwhile, former minister Ravindra Naik alleged that the Congress had nominated “defeated leaders and parachute leaders” in the first list and injustice was done to eligible leaders. Mr Naik said he would file his nomination papers on March 22 for the Lok Sabha elections.
He said the party had denied him the Mahbubabad seat, and while he was willing to settle for the Nalgonda some leaders are against his candidature.
