Konatala Ramakrishna meets Chandrababu Naidu
There were reports that Mr Ramakrishna would be joining the YSRC and be fielded as the Anakapalle Lok Sabha candidate.
Vijayawada: In a surprise development, former minister Konatala Ramakrishna met TD supremo and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday. This comes after Mr Ramakrishna’s meeting with YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday.
There were reports that Mr Ramakrishna would be joining the YSRC and be fielded as the Anakapalle Lok Sabha candidate. However, he did not join the party and his name was not seen in the party list of Assembly and Lok Sabha candidates that was released on Sunday.
Though there were speculations over the last few days that Mr Ramakrishna would be joining Telugu Desam, he surprised everyone by meeting Mr Reddy on Saturday. Earlier he was with YSRC and was suspended by the party.
Interestingly, after meeting Mr Reddy on Saturday, Mr Ramakrishna had said he had only met him to urge him to work for the development of north Andhra and did not discuss joining YSRC.
On Monday, Mr Ramakrishna met Mr Naidu for almost half-an-hour before the Chief Minister left on a four-district campaign tour. While there was no information on what transpired between both the leaders, it’s learnt that Mr Ramakrishna was making a last-ditch effort to be fielded on a TD ticket as the party was yet to announce Lok Sabha candidates and about 50 Assembly seats.
Known as a loyalist of late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Mr Ramakrishna joined the YSRC when the party was founded.
Due to some differences with the party leadership, he quit after the 2014 polls and kept his options open.
Since then he has been working on the agenda of north Andhra by forming Uttarandhra Charcha Vedika pushing the needs of the three districts of north Andhra Pradesh especially the need to complete Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi.
