Budget allocation to Telangana police department increased by Rs 613 crore

Hyderabad: Finance minister T. Harish Rao allocated Rs 6,465 crore to the police, an increase of Rs 613 crore over the previous year. He allocated Rs 725 crore for the construction of the the police command control centre. The intelligence department got Rs 30 crore more, from Rs 11.02 crore last year to Rs 41.16 crore proposed in the state Budget on Thursday.

Harish Rao said Rs 230.61 crore will be allocated to the Hyderabad commissionerate, a drop of Rs 6 crore from last year. Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates have been allotted Rs 20 crore and Rs 15.86 crore.

Harish Rao allocated Rs 20 crore for construction of toilets in police stations for women police and visitors as well as women in custody. While the Nirbhaya Fund gets Rs 1 crore under the 'Safe City' project, Rs 50 lakh each have been allocated for SHE Teams, and Bharosa centres.

The budget for the DGP office was slashed by Rs 86 crore to Rs 234.85 crore (last year Rs 321.59 crore). Prison and correctional services were given Rs 18.52 crore, Rs 1.5 crore more. The State Disaster Response and Fire Services budget was increased to Rs 7.50 crore.
