Kerala polls: CPM slams bogus voting charges
Attempts from certain quarters spoil victory of party, leaders allege.
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM leaders on Wednesday said there was a concerted attempt from certain quarters to spoil the massive win of LDF in Dharmadom constituency, by raising false allegations against the party about bogus voting.
The CPM leadership believes that it is ploy to tarnish the image of the party because party politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan was contesting from the constituency. K K Ragesh, MP and election campaign in charge of Pinarayi Vijayan at Dharmadom, refuted the allegations of bogus voting. He said the ruling party was jittery over the massive response of people for the LDF. “There is an attempt to create confusion on the eve of the polls all with an ulterior motive,” he said.
CPM district secretary M V Jayarajan termed the allegations as baseless. He said the Congress was raising these organizations in the face of massive defeat that stares the Congress. "When they are winning its good vote and when they lose it is bogus vote" this is the regular propaganda ploy of the Congress.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the bogus voting in Dharmadom had shocked the democratic Kerala. The bogus votes have been polled by known faces of the CPM in these areas.
The visuals of only one panchayat had come out at the moment . “Bogus voting has taken place in many other panchayats. The CPM is caught in a fix as they have not been able to strongly deny the charges,” he said.
Chandy said the incident had once again exposed the violence and bogus voting that took place regularly in party villages. He said in many places the CPM workers threatened the poll officials to secure win in the elections.
