BJP MP demands Jagan step down if law and order worsens in AP

VIJAYAWADA: BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao has sharply criticised the Jagan-led state government, saying the law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh is getting out of control.

Responding to the kidnap of Visakhapatnam MP MVV Satyanarayana's family on Sunday, he said that Amit Shah got a detailed report on law and order in AP and the full facts about the kidnap incident should come out.

“Amit Shah's recent speech in Visakhapatnam caused fear among the YSR Congress leaders. There is anarchy and injustice in Visakha. Amit Shah did not speak from a political point of view but he knew about the rowdyism in Visakha. Even an MP's family has no protection,” he said.

He said it was a shame the police claimed they acted fast.  “This apart, in Bapatla district, the pouring of petrol on a Class X student and setting him on fire was something we all should be ashamed of. A boy questioned those who were harassing his elder sister. They murdered him. Chief Minister Jagan Reddy should tender an  unconditional apology for the murder of the boy and the culprits should be punished severely.”

“If the CM is not in a position to control the law and order, he must step down from the post,” he said.

The MP said the Modi-led central government did a lot of AP. It expanded 5,000km of national highways in the state, and allocated funds for the railway sector in AP as also for aviation and infrastructure development.

“Modi gave three times more funds to AP than what the UPA government gave. But, the YSRC government has neglected the development of AP. The state government is corrupt and there are scams in sand extraction, mining and liquor,” he alleged.

The BJP MP said he had recently complained to the state governor about the land grab going on in Visakhapatnam. Two SITs have investigated the land grab cases. Those reports should be released, he said.
