Congress takes KT Rama Rao to task over Hyderabad roads
Shabbir Ali said that the minister's words were always hollow and he was all talk and no action.
Hyderabad: Congress senior leaders on Tuesday alleged that the TRS government has miserably failed to fulfil its promises made during last year’s GHMC elections to make the state capital free of traffic snarls and water logging.
The Congress charge came a day after heavy rain that lashed city on Monday led to water logging and traffic snarls in several parts of Hyderabad.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Mohd. Ali Shabbir, senior Congress legislator T. Jeevan Reddy and former Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, speaking to the media at Assembly, challenged municipal administration minister K.T. Rama Rao to a public debate on the horrifying state of roads in the state capital and other towns in the state that have been battered by the southwest monsoon.
Referring to the much publicised 100-day action plan announced by Mr Rama Rao soon after he took charge of the municipal department, Mr Shabbir Ali asked: “Is this the result of your action plan? We are ready for a debate, even in the presence of the media, at any time and place of your choice.”
Terming Mr Rama Rao as “Feku Rao and Gali Rao”, Mr Shabbir Ali said that the minister’s words were always hollow and he was all talk and no action.
The senior Congress leader advised the minister to take care of his responsibilities first and set things right in Hyderabad city before criticising AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi and the Congress.
“If the TRS government is unable to handle the situation, it should give up power. The Congress knows how to manage the situation,” he added.
