HYDERABAD: The BRS government has completely ignored Uppal constituency with regard to construction of two-bedroom houses for the poor, former MLA and BJP state vice-president N.V.S.S. Prabhakar said on Friday.

Addressing a meeting of people who applied for the houses, and party workers, at the start of his two-day protest to press his demand that the government build and distribute 2BHK units for the poor, Prabhakar said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had “utterly failed to fulfil his promise of providing houses to the poor and playing with the lives of poor with his hollow promises.”

Even where the houses were being distributed, only BRS workers were being selected, with the ruling party leaders and MLAs demanding money from people for allotting houses. “They are collecting Rs 3 lakh for a two-bedroom house, Rs 6 lakh for Dalit Bandhu, and Rs15,000 for BC Bandhu schemes from each beneficiary,” he said.
