Another leader, Allum Veerabhadrappa said that even UNESCO has recognised the contributions of Vijayanagara rulers.
Bengaluru: A delegation led by former minister and disqualified Congress MLA Anand Singh met Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa here on Wednesday and urged him to create a separate Vijayanagara district by bifurcating Ballari.
After meeting the CM, Mr Singh said, “Vijayanagara district is a long standing demand of people of Hosapete to restore the glory of the erstwhile Vijayanagara kingdom. I have requested the chief minister to place the request of the people before the Cabinet and announce the new district.”
Another leader, Allum Veerabhadrappa said that even UNESCO has recognised the contributions of Vijayanagara rulers. If the government creates Vijayanagara district, it will help people resolve administrative issues and also ensure the development of the district, he said.
Responding to the request of Anand Singh, Mr Yediyurappa assured that he will take a decision soon. “We will consider the demand positively. I will placed the file before the next cabinet meeting and we will take a decision,” the CM said.
