Rahul Gandhi okays Telangana TDP president's entry into Congress
Sources said Revanth Reddy had insisted that he would join the Congress in Rahul Gandhi's presence.
Hyderabad: AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi has okayed the admission of TS TD working president A. Revanth Reddy unconditionally into the Congress. He met Mr Revanth Reddy briefly on Tuesday evening.
According to sources, TS Congress in-charge R.C. Kuntia, AICC SC/ ST chairman Kop-pula Raju and TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy accompanied Mr Revanth Reddy to Mr Gandhi’s residence and held preliminary discussions.
Mr Revanth Reddy seems to have insisted on a courtesy call with Mr Gandhi before joining the Congress. After the preliminary discussions, Mr Gandhi first spoke with the Cong-ress team and reportedly asked them whether there would be any problem in local party circles with Mr Revanth Reddy’s entry.
He later came out and had a one-on-one meeting with Mr Revanth Reddy for a few minutes. After this, Mr Gandhi gave the go ahead.
Sources said Mr Revanth Reddy had insisted that he would join the Congress in Mr Gandhi’s presence.
During his meeting with Congress leaders, Mr Gandhi suggested that the party should not make any assurances on offering posts for some time.
The suggestions made by Mr Revanth Reddy would be given to the campaign committee chairman in view of his oratory skills to take on the TRS government.
At the end of the meeting it was decided to admit Mr Revanth Reddy unconditionally into the Congress.
