TRS MLAs wooing Congress leaders into ruling party in TS
Adilabad: TRS MLAs are wooing second-rung Congress leaders into the ruling party in Telangana State, so as to strengthen the party base as well as improve their own prospects in assembly constituencies in the region.
TRS leaders feel a further weakening of the Congress party will be to the electoral advantage of the ruling party.
Two Congress ward councilors and an independent councilor of Nirmal Municipality joined the TRS in the presence of the forest minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy on October 16.
TRS leaders are also wooing the opposition party leaders into the ruling party in Adilabad, Mancherial and Sirpur (T) assembly constituencies. Some Congress leaders and cadres are getting attracted to the TRS and BJP.
A senior Congress leader of Jainad mandal and a few ward councilors of opposition parties there recently joined the TRS in the presence of MLA Jogu Ramanna. Some Congress leaders joined the TRS in the Mancherial district.
TRS leaders are taking the advantage of the lull in the Congress party activities and are keen on getting the Congress leaders to their fold by hook or by crook.
Naturally, activists and leaders of any party do not get disillusioned if there are regular party activities and programmes in their respective areas. But, Congress activities have reduced for the past one year. Former Congress MLA Aleti Maheshwar Reddy was also not spending much time on Nirmal assembly constituency these days.
Congress party’s frontline leaders and second-run leaders were somewhat busy with the enrollment of the party’s digital membership drive in their areas. But, after this, activity was less. The existing groupism in the Congress is also causing damage to the party’s image and confusion among the party cadre and second-rung leadership in this region.
