Owaisi Slams Rahul on Charges that MIM Cuts Congress Votes
HYDERABAD: MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for alleging that MIM contested elections in places where the Congress was in the fray so it can cut votes and help the BJP. Owaisi said the Congress leader should figure out why his party lost in 171 of the 186 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 election where Congress and BJP were in a direct contest.
He told Gandhi that the MIM never contested in Assam as alleged by the Congress leader during his speech during the ongoing bus yatra, adding, “may be all Muslims look alike to you.”
Posting his reaction on X (formerly Twitter), Owaisi said “you lost Amethi. Every second day some friend or other of yours leaves you and joins the BJP. Your Telangana president himself is a ‘sanghi’. Why did your party lose the Karimnagar LS seat? Did you and BJP not have a ‘setting’ in Goshamahal ensuring you give up Goshamahal so you can get Malkajgiri LS seat?”
