Hunsur: AH Vishwanath files papers after temple run

The minister challenged leader of the Opposition, Siddaramaiah, to resign his seat and contest against him in Badami Assembly constituency.

MYSURU: Former state Janata Dal (Secular) president and disqualified legislator A.H. Vishwanath, visited a number of shrines before handing in his nomination papers as the BJP candidate in Hunsur Assembly constituency, once a stronghold of the late Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs and his family, on Monday.

At a BJP convention organized in Hunsur, minister B Sriramulu, former minister C H Vijayshankar, V Srinivas Prasad and Pratap Simha, both MPs, appealed to the voters to elect Mr Vishwanath. Mr Sriramulu said, “Our party has come to power because of his sacrifice. He will be appointed a minister the day after his victory in the byelection. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed that all candidates should win the byelections,” he added.  

The minister challenged leader of the Opposition, Siddaramaiah, to resign his seat and contest against him in Badami Assembly constituency.

Movable: Rs 7,05,854 in his name and Rs 17,67,512 in the name of his wife Mrs Shanthamma.

Immovable: Rs 70 lakhs in his name and Rs 12 lakhs in the name of his wife Mrs Shanthamma.
