Hyderabad: BJP Rajya Sabha member and OBC Morcha national president K. Laxman alleged on Sunday that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has changed the airport Metro Rail line project’s route with a view to benefiting the private landlords.

“The BRS government indiscriminately sold government lands and is taking
back the 'assigned' lands allotted to the poor. This apart, the government
proposed a long-distance route with the aim of raising the private land rates en route to the airport,” he said.

Speaking to the media here, Laxman said the TRS state government is helping
realtors by ignoring the interests of the common man. “To favour the MIM
party, the state government changed the metro rail route from 16km to 32km,”
he said.

“KCR is bluffing the people over the 100 per cent funds for the Metro Rail,”
he said.

He said, “The state government has no money because of its wrong financial
management. It has failed to give even salaries on time to its employees and
is diverting funds allotted to Telangana by the Centre.”

Laxman, a parliamentary board member of the BJP, said, “The chief minister
can dissolve the Assembly, but he has no authority to decide when the
elections must be held.”

The Election Commission is not in the pockets of Rao for him to have the
polls held along with the polls in Karnataka, he said, adding, the BJP is
backing the Centre’s plan for simultaneous polls to  Parliament and state
assemblies.

The interests of Telangana state were spoilt due to the negative and
confrontationist attitude of the Chief Minister with the Central government.
Rao ignored protocol when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Central ministers
visit the state, he said.

The BJP MP alleged that the BRS was established by the Kalvakuntla family to
protect their “ill-gotten wealth.”
