BJP youth wing to BS Yeddyurappa: Restrain Hegde
Hegde had also created an uproar with his views on the Constitution.
Bengaluru: Taking umbrage to controversial statements of Union minister of state for skill development, Ananth Kumar Hegde, vice president of BJP's Yuva Morcha, Bhimashankar Patil, has urged state unit president and former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to rein in Mr Hegde in order to prevent further insult to sentiments of Kannadigas.
In a letter to Mr Yeddyurappa, Mr Patil has requested the leader to restrain Mr. Hegde from hurting Kannada litterateurs or airing derogatory statements against them as it would dent the prospects of the party in the forthcoming elections to the Legislative Assembly.
"Mr. Hegde compares Rashtrakavi Kuvempu's message to cow, he disrespects Kuvempu and his works. Such remarks of Mr. Hegde show that he has no concern or love towards Kannada and Kannadigas. You (Yeddyurappa) must reprimanded him and offer an unconditional apology to these authors for these remarks," he added.
Mr Hegde had also created an uproar with his views on the Constitution.
Mr. Patil also indirectly criticized BJP Yuva Morcha State President and Mysuru MP, Prathap Simha for his remarks on Rani Chennamma and Onake Obavva, and added that such criticism would have a negative impact on the party.
It’s mini rallies for BJP after parivarthana!
Leaving nothing to chance, leaders of the state unit of BJP will lead mini rallies in taluks and hoblis soon after completion of the on-going 'Karnataka Parivarthana Yatra' led by chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa. A decision on mini rallies ostensibly to focus on local issues was taken at a meeting of the core committee here on Thursday. In addition, these leaders would also fan out across the state to address rallies at the booth level (Nava Shakti Samavesha) before February 20 with focus on 19 issues to strengthen the support-base at the booth-level, according to a statement released by the state unit of the party. At this meeting, the leaders acknowledged the overwhelming support for Karnataka Parivarthana Yatra, scheduled to end on January 25, after covering 199 of the 224 Assembly constituencies. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to address the concluding session of Parivarthana Yatra on February 4 at Palace Grounds, leaders of the core committee instructed the cadres to ensure a record turnout as this would help sending out a message across the state on a day when Mr Modi would kick off the party's campaign for forthcoming elections to the Legislative Assembly. The core committee also discussed the proposed Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) for Bengaluru.
